Inderal is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris (chest pain), hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (a heart condition), rapid heart beat, migraine headaches, adrenal gland tumors. It is often prescribed to patients who are recovering from a heart attack.
Inderal is to be used in strict accordance with a doctor’s directions. Inderal does not have to be taken with food. It should be taken at the same time every day. Antacids containing aluminum should be used two hours after a dose of Inderal. Do not stop using Inderal without speaking to a doctor even if there is a significant improvement in your condition.
If a dose is missed, it can be taken as soon as you remember, as long as it does not clash with the next scheduled dose. In this case, rather skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose.
Inderal can cause lightheadedness, dizziness and drowsiness which may intensify if used in conjunction with alcohol and other medications. Inderal is to be used with caution. In the early stages of treatment, avoid driving or performing any potentially dangerous activity in case of an adverse reaction. If symptoms persist, or get worse, contact your doctor immediately. Inderal should only be used by the patient for whom it was prescribed. Never increase or decrease the dosage without speaking to your doctor.
