Drug Uses

Evista is used to prevent osteoporosis in post-menopausal women. It has also been known to reduce the incidence of breast cancer.

How Taken

Evista comes in tablet form to be taken orally. The usual dose is 60mg once a day. Evista does not have to be taken with food. It is recommended that, while using Evista, extra Vitamin D and calcium be added to the patient’s diet.

Missed Dose

If a dose is missed, it can be taken as soon as you remember, as long as it does not clash with the next scheduled dose. In this case, rather skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose.

More Information

If you are planning any type of surgery (including dental) while using Evista, inform your doctor as it may be necessary to stop using Evista if you require a long period of post-operative bed rest. Do not sit in one position for long periods while using Evista. People who smoke and/or drink alcohol should discuss the risks with a doctor as Evista has been known to cause bone loss.
