Drug Uses
Lasix is used to treat hypertension and water retention (swelling) associated with liver or kidney disease and congestive heart failure. It is also used for a number of other medical conditions as determined by a doctor.
How Taken
Lasix is to be used in strict accordance with a doctor’s directions. Lasix should be taken with food to avoid stomach upsets. Inform your doctor if you are using cholestyramine, colestipol or sucralfate. Lasix may increase the need to urinate, so therefore take the dosage prior to 6pm to prevent disturbed sleep.
Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, it can be taken as soon as you remember, as long as it does not clash with the next scheduled dose. In this case, rather skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose.
More Information
Side-effects of Lasix include blurred vision and dizziness which may intensify if Lasix is taken in conjunction with alcohol and other medications. Lasix is to be used with caution. In the early stages of treatment avoid driving or performing any potentially dangerous activity in case of an adverse reaction. If symptoms persist, or worsen, contact your doctor immediately. Lasix should only be used by the person for whom it was prescribed. Never increase or decrease the dosage without a doctor’s permission.
